Announcing Momento’s Series A and the General Availability of Topics

We are excited to share two major pieces of news today!
First, we want to announce our $15M Series A round, led by returning investor Bain Capital Ventures and joined by the General Partnership. Second, we are graduating Topics, our low-latency event bus, to general availability! Together, these two pieces of news represent the culmination of a tremendous effort by the Momento team over the last few months.
We’ve been busy this year shaping the Momento platform into an engine that accelerates our partners’ success. Shipping better products faster than everyone else is now table stakes for survival everywhere. And as users demand ever more capable products, the expectations placed on bespoke infrastructure and understaffed teams proliferate out of control.
The difficult reality is that great products need great infrastructure. Yet, building and operating robust, high-performance systems at scale is challenging, even when you’re an expert. This urgent need elevates our mission to provide product builders with reliable, turnkey infrastructure for real-time applications at any scale.
We’ve had the privilege to see how Momento evokes deep admiration and loyalty when we are placed in the critical path of our customer’s applications and it just works. There is something magical that occurs when a seemingly intractable problem costing hundreds of thousands of dollars or more, suddenly goes poof! From AAA game titles to agricultural IoT, we meet our customers where they are to apply our expertise and world-class technology towards their success.
Recently, we’ve acknowledged how enterprise scale accentuates Momento’s value proposition. We make it trivial to provision infrastructure that is capable and responsive under enormous load. This has trickle-down effects for mid-market and early-stage product developers, who gain access to a hardened, feature-rich platform that bulldozes all the road bumps as they grow. But it is at enterprise scale where Momento truly unlocks success.
With Cache and Topics now validated many times over, the moment has come for us to scale our sales motion. To do so, we’ve begun to focus more deliberately on enterprise customers. We’ve recently increased our go-to-market investments and also established an office in Tokyo, to support our rapid expansion into the Japanese market.
The Momento platform is and always will be generalized infrastructure for all product builders. However, we want to call out the exciting traction we’re building in three areas: gaming, live media, and AI. Each of these categories shares the common feature of unpredictable, heavy loads driven by highly-visible interactive features. This is where Momento shines!
In the coming year, you’ll see Momento powering AAA games, major streaming services, and novel AI products. And people are taking notice! Momento was recognized in the InfraRed 100 list, which promoted us on the Nasdaq billboard in Times Square. Similarly, Menlo Ventures named Momento as the only caching solution in their Modern AI Stack.
